Where We Come From
Tacitus Systems was founded by engineers who built careers in critical infrastructure — power generation systems where a cybersecurity failure carries physical consequences. In energy and industrial sectors, data sovereignty is not a feature. It is an engineering requirement. You design for it from the ground up, or you don't ship.
We brought that same discipline to AI infrastructure. The result is a platform designed for organizations that treat their data the way a power plant treats its control network: fully isolated, fully owned, no external dependencies.
Why We Built Tacitus
The problem became clear during conversations with law firms and healthcare organizations across Europe. Each was under pressure to adopt AI — from clients, from competitors, from management — but every tool on the market required uploading privileged, sensitive data to servers controlled by US technology companies.
The engineering solution was straightforward: put the AI on your hardware, in your building, under your law. The CLOUD Act cannot reach a server in your server room. GDPR third-party processor requirements become irrelevant when there is no third party.
Tacitus is the infrastructure we built to solve that problem — not a startup experiment, but a production system designed to the same reliability standards used in turbine control systems.
